Film Event with Filmmakers Yasemin and Nesrin Samdereli

If you were not amongst the audience of 220 who had come to the Ciné Lumière on 18 January 2012 to watch the hugely popular Turkish German comedy Almanya - Welcome to Germany (dir. Yasemin Samdereli, 2011), here's your chance to watch the trailer and to listen to two podcasts of the event Welcoming Stranger: Insights into Immigration on Film, which Professor Daniela Berghahn organised as part of her HARC Fellowship Welcoming Strangers and her AHRC-funded project The Diasporic Family in Cinema.  

The screening was supported by the Ciné Lumière, the Goethe Institute and HARC at Royal Holloway and  gave British audiences the opportunity to watch a film which with 1.4 million admissions to date has taken the German box-office by storm since it premiered at the International Berlin Film Festival in 2011 but which has not yet had a theatrical release in Britain.
